Thailand: Week 02 - Teaser

A Snippet of My Time in Plaboo

Foreword

I’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback pertaining to last week’s post as well as many questions as to when my next article will be posted. I’ve decided that with my time and schedule, a weekly report, posted every Saturday, makes the most sense. However, due to popular demand, I will be posting a short teaser about what I’ve been up to so far. I will try to post these either on Wednesdays or Thursdays, but there could be some variance due to their informal nature. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy!

Quick Thoughts on Plaboo

Life in Plaboo village is drastically different from what I got accustomed to in Bangkok. For starters, the facilities are extremely basic (no AC, bucket showers, mats and mosquito nets, etc.). Additionally, Plaboo strives to be entirely self-sufficient. In other words, unless I want to take a 30-45 minute car ride into the city, my activities and interactions are confined to my new Thai home. Additionally, the food has been a big adjustment. For the most part, my diet this week has been traditional Isan food (sticky rice, green papaya salad, eggs, and mushrooms), which as a result, means everything I eat is spicy.

On another note, the people here are some of the kindest and friendliest people I’ve ever met. They go out of their way to make sure that I understand and feel included even with the large language barrier. They also make sure I’m never hungry and I constantly have some new type of food available to me. They’re super patient about trying to teach me the Thai language and answer any and all of my questions to the best of their ability.

As for the specific activities I’ve been up to? You’ll have to wait to read my upcoming post, but let’s just say I’m staying caffeinated and learning many Thai skills.

Nevertheless, here’s a few photos to hold you over :)
